We have lost one of the greatest visionaries who not only guided so many Ophthalmologists all over the world. Padmashri Dr SSB as he is fondly called was a very compassionate teacher who was able to guide millions. I was fortunate during my tenure to do the ECCE surgery under his guidance. He was very patient and touched many hearts with his kind deeds and noble gesture. The country has lost a legend in ophthalmology. Our prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Om Shanthi 🙏.

For the last 35 years, I have heard Dr Badrinath’s name being mentioned as a role model for various values like ethics, commitment, integrity, service, management skills etc. I never thought I would get to meet or interact with him. When i joined a short term course on Hospital Management with Nethralaya, I never expected that Dr Badrinath would make an in person appearance on the last day of the course and interact with all the participants. This was one course among so many other courses and for the Chief to ensure that he participated and encouraged the participants, showed me what commitment really stood for. He lived and breathed Sankara Nethralaya and the institution is a testimony to that commitment. May his guidance continue to inspire a whole generation of eye care professionals. 🙏🏻

Dr. Sengamedu Srinivasa Badrinath will always be remembered as Chief. His presence is and will be felt in every milestone hitherto and henceforth reached by everyone who has been trained by him or received training from those trained by him. Unlike the patients who saw him as nothing less than God, to every staff in Sankara Nethralaya he was a perfectionist to the T. He made sure every staff in Sankara Nethralaya inculcated quality as their first nature in anything they do. My personal remote experience with chief has been in my early days of joining as an Optometrist in SN Main. One of the patients for whom I had done initial workup was later seen by Chief and he had prescribed the glasses for my refraction. My superior informed me of this and even added it as a special mention during my appraisal. It had given me a great sense of pride and confidence at that time.
